Top Ecommerce Shop

June 26, 2010

I order a lot of stuff online and the experience ranges from the ultra-frustrating (Jenners wedding list shop in Edinburgh) to what I experienced recently which was a sublime online ordering experience. I speak here of
I needed some stuff to work on my kitchen at the weekend and decided to order from toolstation rather than heading to the local DIY shop. I was right to as well. Toolstation had many of the parts I needed at 1/8th of the price of the local shop! That’s a ridiculous discount. Great, how much is delivery? Free delivery on orders over GBP40. My order stood at 39.50 so I bought a 75 pence screwdriver to make up the difference. Wait a minute – that’s free next day delivery. I’ll believe that when I see it.
All in all I ordered around 10 different items. The site was a joy to use and I left it at that. Next morning I logged in to find out if the order had been processed. Clicked on the order to see that it had been sent by Parcel Force. Clicked on the word Parcel force to be redirected to their tracking page to find out that the gear was just a couple of miles down the road and inbound. 20 minutes later I had my paws on the delivery.
From start to finish it was a great online shopping experience. If only all online stores could operate like that.
